Belton Self Defence Club Holds
‘Back To Back’ Competition
On Saturday 23 rd February, the Belton O-Yama-Ryu Goshin Jitsu Martial Arts Club, held their first ‘Back to Back’ competition. The event was attended by students, drawn from the different venues, where the O Yama Ryu club runs classes, including Belton, Gorleston and Southtown and by students from the clubs associated sister club from Bradwell.
This is the curtain raiser for the clubs year of events and seminars and always starts the year of in style, The students were taken through some competition techniques by Sensei Sarah Barber and Graham Mann in the morning training session before the competition which was held in the afternoon. Competition certificates were presented by Sensei Sarah & Gillian Barber and were awarded in the following groups :-

Group 1 – Gold – George Wilson (oyr), Silver – Thomas Stubbs (oyr)
1 st Bronze – Kurtis Brandon (bt), 2 nd Bronze – Sabrina Chant (oyr)

Group 2 – Gold – Robin Wood (oyr) , Silver – Thomas Miller (bw) ,
1 st Brronze – Brandon Smith (bw) 2 nd Bronze – Reece Ryan (oyr)

Group 3 – Gold – April Wood (oyr) , Silver – Arron Skelly (oyr),
Bronze – Logan Roach (oyr)

Open Group 1 – Gold – George Wilson (oyr), Silver – Thomas Stubbs (oyr)
1 st Bronze – Sabrina Chant (oyr) , 2 nd Bronze – Kurtis Brandon (bt)

Open Group 2 – Gold – Robin Wood (oyr) , Silver – Reece Ryan (oyr)

Senior Club Instructor Shihan Garwood said how pleased he was that some of the techniques which were shown in the training session were tried and used during the days competition.
