Over the weekend of the 10 th to the 12 th of August, the O-Yama-Ryu Goshin Jitsu Martial Arts Club, had a group of students attending the Fighting Arts Organisation of Great Britain’s annual “Gathering Of The Masters” training seminar, which this year was held in the UK, at the Littledown Sports Centre, in Bournemouth. It was attended by over 250 students over the 3 days.

The group of students included it’s chief instructor Shihan Kevin Garwood, together with Trevor Garwood, Robert Brown, Gillian Barber, Katharine Barber, Sarah Barber, Graham Mann (not shown in photo), Jonathon Heales, Paul Frost and Chris White.
All the students had a fantastic weekends training which was conducted by a collection of international masters including Professor Kimo Ferreira, who is a 10 th dan instructor from Hawaii, and many of the FAO’s senior instructors including Hanshi Peter Browne , Shihan Mike Johnson, Professor Trevor Roberts (from Bolton). The clubs own chief instructor Kevin Garwood also instructed at the seminar demonstrating some of the Goshin Jitsu techniques which was something different for the other attending clubs students to try.
Shihan Kevin Garwood said that it was a great pleasure to attend this seminar and see our students being able to show some new variations in self defense, which the attending students can now demonstrate to our owns clubs and further enhance the clubs basic syllabus, and he hoped that all who took part in the training enjoyed trying something a little bit different from the normal classes, and it shows that even though you may think the prized black belt is a goal to be achieved, a persons training in martial arts isn’t finished by attaining it. The Black belt is really the start of your learning. A martial art, and even a 5th or 6th Dan student can still learn something new everyday.
