On June 3rd  the O Yama Ryu Goshin Karate Club held its regular summer kyu grading at the Lichfield Community Centre and at it’s training venue at the Clayden Community Centre in Gorleston.
This was the opportunity for the students to show to their parents some of the Goshin Karate and self defence techniques they had learnt in the last six months of training with the club, and the students went through their paces and were awarded the coloured belts that they had trained for.

Students graded at the Lichfield group were  :-

  • Purple Belt - Sarah Chandler

  • First Dan Black Belts -Kayleigh Edwards & Zack Edwards

Senior Coach Jon Heales, said a special mention should be made to  Rhiannon Edwards who assisted in both of the first Dan gradings.

Students graded at the Claydon group were  :-

  • Red Belt – David Thompson & John Paul Thompson

  • Yellow Belt - Laura Thompson, Darion Hutchinson, Aaron Kelly, Cain Casey

Club Instructor John Heales said he was very pleased with the students application of the techniques they had to demonstrate and the Clubs Senior Instructor Shihan Kevin Garwood said he was pleased with the progress of all the students, but did emphasize if the students want to achieve the highly prized Black belt, it has to take a lot of dedication, effort and regular training and like all sports, if you work hard and train regularly.
